What is an intraocular lens?

Intraocular lens is an artificial lens is made from a special material with plastic side struts, called haptics, to hold the lens in place. The lens is implanted inside the eye during cataract surgery, replacing the cloudy crystalline lens.

Types of Intra Ocular Lens

  • Standard IOL is a normal lens, with a single focus. This lens helps you to focus at the long distance, but you will still use a reading glasses at the near distance.
  • Multifocal IOL is a lens with multi circle, providing simultaneous view of both distance vision and near vision. The patient might need some period of time to adjust their vision.
  • Toric IOL can correct the astigmatism, therefore, the patients with astigmatism after surgery, will no longer need the glasses. It can correct the astigmatism from 100 up to 300 Diopters
