If you have enjoyed perfect vision, you should be counting yourself lucky. However, this starts to change as you age, typically, as you approach your 40s. The sign starts showing as you are in your 40s. A condition called Presbyopia will result in the inability to focus on near objects.
Laser Vision is the first LASIK Center in Thailand offering Presby LASIK treatment. Presby LASIK is considered as the 1st All-in-One correction for shortsighted, longsighted, and Old-Age reading problem. This procedure provides presbyopic patient with both satisfactory reading and distance vision with the newly advanced PAC Software (Pseudo Accommodative Cornea).
how does PAC works?
The PAC is a new software; developed using the NAVEX Laser machine to solve your reading problem. The laser pattern creates a multifocal-shaped cornea.
Circular areas, corrected to different powers, can be sculpted on the cornea, that will correct Distance vision (even if you have longsighted, shortsighted, or astigmatism) and also presbyopia (reading problems) at the same time.
This means that the overall vision after your laser refractive surgery will continue to be useful even as your eyes age.
The final shape of the cornea is what Doctors called a prolate cornea, which has a flatter area in the center of the cornea (giving good distance vision), and a gradual change of shape outwards, (giving good near vision).
More than 80% of patients do not use reading spectacles after having presby LASIK. The others need occasional use of lower power reading glasses.
During your consultation, you can discuss this option with your doctor, and together decide upon the best choice for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Question : What is PAC?
PAC is derived from Pseudo Accommodative Cornea. PAC is a software used in the NAVEX Laser. This allows good Distance & Near Vision at the same time, for even people above 40 years-old.
Question : Is Presby LASIK done on both eyes or one eye only?
Question : Presby LASIK is said to not cause night vision problems, why?
As after PAC treatment, the cornea becomes a prolate shape which is the natural shape of the human cornea. This shape is minimizes glare.
Question : Will I be able to read very small print after Presby LASIK? How fast is the healing?
Yes, most small print will be readable after PAC, Healing takes about 3 months.
Question : Do I still need glasses to read after Presby LASIK when I get older?
Possible when you get much older, smaller print may require a pair of thinner reading glasses.
Question : What is Presbyopia?
Presbyopia is aging process of all human eyes. The lens become less flexible & muscles less effective, so that reading small print at near becomes difficult.
Question : If I have Glaucoma, will Presby LASIK help me?
Question : If I had PRK and LASIK 10 years ago, now can I have Presby LASIK since I now need reading glasses?
Yes, but must recheck corneal thickness & suitability again.
Question : Doctor told me I have cataract, can I still do Presby LASIK?
Yes, if mild cataract. If severe cataract better to proceed with Cataract surgery.
