LASIK
LASIKLaser in Situ Keratomileusis

This is one of the most standard vision correction surgery which uses microkeratome(a mechanical blade) to create corneal flaps with the thickness about 100-120 microns. The flaps is then flipped over and followed by the emission of excimer laser to readjust the curvature and thickness of the corneal to correct the refractive errors. The corneal flap is then flipped back to the original position.

LASIK Treatment Process
  1. The surgeon uses a microkeratome to create corneal flap
  2. The flap is flipped over the hinge.
  3. The surgeon uses the excimer laser to correct refractive error and then flips the corneal flap to original position.

How to prepare for the complete eye examinationShow More
How to prepare for the complete eye examination
1
Before your preoperative examination, please ensure: Soft contact lenses are removed 3 days prior to your appointment. Hard contact lenses are removed 7 days prior to your appointment.
2
Due to the blurry vision that results after the dilatation of the eyes, it is recommended that the patient be accompanied by a relative or close friend. Dilation because the eyes to become extremely light sensitive and the patient might not be able to drive a vehicle after dilating the pupil.
3
Bring a pair of sun glasses is recommended.

* The reason is that wearing contacts lenses, for a long time, could change the curvature of the cornea, therefore the refraction have changed as well. Not wearing contact lens, for a while, will cause the shape and the curvature of eye to revert back to its natural shape, enabling us to get more precise data of the cornea.
